Wimbledon College are the proud owners of a fantastic new all-weather 3G pitch which can be used for football and rugby.
The purpose-built facility was initially granted planning back in 2021 however the pre commencement conditions took a significant amount of time to discharge to ensure that local residents were not adversely affected by the development.
The project, which was project managed by specialist firm Wilby Burnitt and overseen on site by independent test house Sportslabs who also underpinned the key design elements.
The tight nature of the site meant that management was key, especially with the movement of materials and the sheer volume of deliveries required.
Works comprised a sizeable earthworks operation, sustainable urban drainage system, fully engineered porous macadam subbase, retaining walls, specialist retractable floodlighting system, robust perimeter fencing system and the installation of a FIFA and World Rugby certified surfacing system plus the fit out of all sports equipment, access pathways and hard/soft landscaping.
The significant package of works were delivered within 16 weeks and after being certified to the relevant national governing body standards for competitive football and full contact rugby, they keys to the new facility were handed over to a delighted client.
The schools pupils and wider sporting community can now benefit from this superb new pitch for many years to come.
