Following two successful projects with the same client, Velocity Sports undertook the refurbishment and extension of the existing 3G pitch at Everest Community Academy in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
With high levels of community usage, the pitch had reached the end of it’s useful life after 12 years and with careful planning the academy had built up a suitable sinking fund to install a replacement surface.
The academy opted for a top of the range surface from LANO, the first of its kind installed in the UK.
Overseen by specialist sports consultants Surfacing Standards Ltd, who competitively tendered, project managed and contractually administered the contract, the project involved:
- Working in a live, busy school environment
- Removal and recycling of the old 40mm 3G carpet and shockpad
- Removal of the perimeter pathway around the pitch
- New tarmac base to extend the pitch area in line with approved FA pitch size.
- Installation of new, Lano TLT Star 60mm 3G surface
- Testing to FIFA Quality
The successfully refurbished facility was completed in the summer of 2023, on budget and 3 weeks ahead of programme.
