Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys have invested in a new all-weather football and rugby surface, recently installed by specialist firm Velocity Sports Ltd.
Having competitively tendered the project, the Velocity bid, which was not the lowest economic offer, was deemed to provide best value to the client and was taken forward to th point of formal contract.
The project consisted of the refurbishment of the school’s existing 3G pitch into a new FA and World Rugby complaint pitch, along with minor fencing works.
Through careful workmanship and detailed process, the existing shockpad was retained with minimal repair works needed.
This saved the school over £60,000 in replacement costs along with a 2-week reduction in the delivery programme.
Working direct for the school and in partnership with independent test house Labosport, Velocity were responsible for undertaking the entire design and construction process and completed the project in less than the allotted 6 week summer holiday period.
