In the summer of 2023 Faversham Town Football Club worked in partnership with Velocity Sports Ltd to install a state-of-the-art new artificial playing surface as part of a major refurbishment to their home ground, the Aquatherm Stadium in Salters Lane, Faversham.
As well as the playing surface the club invested, thanks to part funding from the FA’s Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), in new perimeter walkways, spectator fencing, security fencing and equipment.
The club also improved their existing natural grass training area as part of the works.
Velocity Sports provided a full turnkey package from initial enquiry to completed facility which included:
- Feasibility assessment
- Initial site surveys
- Detailed design
- Obtaining planning consent
- Construction
- Testing
- Maintenance
The club’s owner Gary Smart opted for a quality first approach which will see the facility futureproofed for many years, with the inclusion of the same shockpad and artificial surface at that used by England at St George’s Park – it couldn’t be anything else for Kent’s 3 Lions!
The updated facility was delivered within 12 weeks and ready for the clubs first game of preseason, having been successfully field tested to FIFA Quality Pro standards.

Velocity Sports have been amazing. We have worked really well with them. We have done what we said on the tin and vice-versa.
I cannot speak highly enough of them, they’d done Whitstable and Herne Bay’s pitches. They’re a fantastic group to work with.
We have a bit of work with them going forward. It’s not just here it stops, it keeps going.
