Velocity Sports Ltd recently carried out the construction of a half size sand filled hockey pitch as part of the relocation of Chichester Free School.
Working for main contractor Farrans, Velocity were responsible for the drainage, stone formation and fully engineered base.
The pitch was then topped with a 15mm shockpad and 23mm sand filled grass and successfully tested to En standards for hockey.
To complete works Velocity installed a robust 3m high twinbar perimeter fencing for ball retention and security as well as undertaking the equipment assembly.
Two large outdoor play areas were also surfaced in landscape artificial grass with a specialist shock absorbing layer underneath to help provide a safe and durable surface for use all year round.
The project was handed over for the start of new school term and the feedback to date from the school’s pupils has been extremely positive.
