Brunel University London – Velocity Sports

Brunel University London Refurbishment of Indoor Athletics Centre

Velocity Sports recently undertook the complete refurbishment of the famous Indoor Athletics Centre (IAC) at Brunel University London (BUL).

The project involved the renewal of the existing polymeric track surfacing and associated facilities which had been in place since 2005.

After the initial strip out and remedial groundworks the new facility was upgraded with a full depth Rekortan M Indoor sandwich system from Polytan in Hertha Blue which was also the surfacing system used for the Commonwealth games.

The outstanding new facility includes:

  • 132m, 6-lane sprints and hurdles straight
  • Long jump/triple jump pit
  • Pole vault area
  • High jump area
  • Strength and conditioning area and dedicated weightlifting area

  • Construction
  • Performance Testing

‘We are delighted, the refurbished IAC is now one of the best indoor training facilities in the country’.

Richard Ashe, Sports Partnerships & Development Manager for BUL

Recognised as a UK Athletics Regional Performance Centre the BUL IAC is the chosen training venue for many of the country’s finest athletes and is a wonderful asset for a University with a proud sporting reputation.

The successfully refurbished facility was re-opened in 2021 to the delight of the University and its users.
