Bournville FC New Era for Bournville RFC

down

The winter of 2017 saw Bournville RFC undertake an ambitious relocation of the club to Avery Fields in Edgbaston.

Funded by housebuilder Persimmon Homes, the works included natural and artificial grass pitches, a club house and car parking.

The 3G pitch, built by specialist firm Velocity Sports Ltd is a full size fully compliant World Rugby certified facility and is intended to be used at the clubs First XV pitch.

The works comprised construction of a fully engineered base, perimeter fencing, LED floodlighting provision, installation of a World Rugby compliant 3G artificial surfacing system, equipment provision as well as hard and soft landscaping.

The works, design and project managed by Peter Jones Associates were complete on schedule and the club commence their season on the new pitch in September 2018.

"We are extremely pleased with the end result and enjoyed a ‘soft opening’ to players, members and fans earlier this month. About 350 attended and the reaction from them all was exactly what we had hoped for. The players are over the moon to have their own purpose-built facility and the club reaction has been universally positive."

Darren Clegg, Bournville RFC
