Abingdon Preparatory School – Velocity Sports

Abingdon Preparatory School MUSA Area constructed over summer holidays

down

In the summer of 2016 Velocity Sports were commissioned by Abingdon School to construct a block of 4 artificial grass tennis courts.

In the summer of 2017, Velocity were back! This time, the Oxfordshire based independent school contracted us to build a 3 court Multi use Sports Area (MUSA for short) at the Prep School site.

Space on the site is relatively tight and as the proposed development area was the existing grass football pitch and so the new facility had to be ready in time for the new school term.

The works included earthworks, drainage, stone placement, kerbing, fencing and synthetic surfacing as well as the design and construction of a ramped access to comply with DDA regulations.

The new pitch was surfaced with a 15mm shockpad and overlaid with the DESSO Trophy Pro, an elite standard hockey surface which can also be used for tennis, football and a variety of other sports to a good recreational level.

The courts were secured by a 4.5m high twinbar super rebound fencing system which included in built goals for football and a hockey kickboard.

"We knew that by utilising the same team as the tennis court project on the main school site that Velocity were a safe pair of hands. The project was delivered on time and within budget, we’re really proud of our fantastic new facility and the boys are thoroughly enjoying using it."
